Imperialism
Monroe Doctrine- a principle of US policy, originated by president James Monroe in 1823, that any intervention by external powers in the politics of the Americas is a potentially hostile act against the U.S.

Spanish American War: A war between Spain and the United States, fought in 1898.

Roosevelt Corollary: A corollary (1904) to the Monroe Doctrine, asserting that the U.S. might intervene in the affairs of an American republic threatened with seizure or intervention by a European country.

Santa Anna & Mexico: Army officer and statesman who was the storm centre of Mexico's politics during such events as the Texas Revolution (1835–36) and the Mexican-American War
Benito Juarez: National hero and president of Mexico (1861–72), who for three years (1864–67) fought against foreign occupation under the emperor Maximilian and who sought constitutional reforms.

Pancho Villa & Emiliano Zapata: Emiliano Zapata, and rebellious peasants, Madero overthrew Díaz in May 1911 at the Battle of Ciudad Juárez. A provisional government was formed under Francisco León de la Barra.
